How ARCHIVE handles the little information you share with us, and an honest note about the images you see across the site.

A NOTE ON IMAGES
PLEASE READ
The images on this site are not owned by Labi Joshua or ARCHIVE.
ARCHIVE is a non-commercial concept project. The photographs, artworks and archival material shown here are used for illustrative and educational purposes only. All rights remain with their respective photographers, artists, estates and collections. If you own an image used on this site and would like it credited differently or removed, email jospecial34@gmail.com and it will be handled promptly.
01
Who we are
ARCHIVE is a digital museum concept documenting Nigeria’s creative history across photography, music, fashion and design. It is designed and run by Labi Joshua as an independent, non-commercial project. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean ARCHIVE.
02
About the images on this site
We do not claim ownership of the photographs, artworks, album covers, garments or other visual material shown on ARCHIVE. They belong to their original creators and rights holders, and appear here only to illustrate the history the site documents.
Where we know the creator, we credit them. Where we don’t, it is not an attempt to pass the work off as ours. If you recognise your work, or the work of someone you represent, let us know and we will add the correct credit or remove it, whichever you prefer.
03
What we collect
Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe to join our news letter.
Open Call submissions: your name, email, the photos you upload and the story you tell us about each piece.
Basic analytics: anonymous information such as pages visited, device type and approximate country, used to understand how the site is used.
04
How we use it
We use your email to send The Dispatch and to reply to your submissions. We use analytics only to improve the site. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
05
Your contributions
Anything you send through the Open Call stays yours. By submitting, you allow us to review it and, if selected and with your confirmation, to display it with your credit. You can ask us to withdraw a piece at any time.
06
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep the site working, and privacy-friendly analytics that do not track you across other websites. You can block cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the archive.
07
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services needed to run the site, such as our hosting provider and email newsletter platform, and only for that purpose. We will disclose information if the law requires it.
08
How long we keep it
Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Open Call submissions that are not selected are deleted within 12 months. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form only.
09
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other laws that apply to you. Every newsletter also includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
